Background

The music festival industry continues to grow annually and in the United States, music festivals are a $11 billion dollar industry with over 21 million people attending them yearly. With festivals ranging from one day to a few days, it is a trip that gives festival goers options on which performers they would like to see.

Problem

Festival goers often face the challenge of coordinating their schedules and finding others interested in seeing the same music performers at music festivals

Solution

An app that seamlessly links individuals attending music festivals and facilitates the coordination of schedules based on shared music preferences, enhancing the festival experience for all participants

Design and Iterations

Design Flow

Iteration 1

Users felt the horizontal slider was not easy to follow since the page scrolls downwards so we changed the slider to be vertical to match the scrolling direction.

Iteration 1

Iteration 2

The green and red arrows caused confusion among users as they resembled navigation. To address this, we replaced the icons with a ✅ and ❌ to signify approval and dismissal.

Iteration 2

Iteration 3

To make the artist matches easier to view and more apparent, we eliminated the overlay that appears when you press on the match percentage and instead listed them in their profile info.

Iteration 3

Conclusion

The key takeaway from this project was that in doing a competitive analysis, it was hard to find a website/app that did everything “perfectly”. We focused on the strengths of each website and the opportunities for improvement.

This project initially started out as a way for festival goers to connect with others going to the same event with similar interest in the artists performing. After going through the UX process, it felt like the design and concept could be used in other industries that involve networking such as conferences or other events that have multiple stages/ speakers.
